LBA stands for Logical Block Addressing, which is a common scheme used for specifying the location of blocks of data stored on computer storage devices, generally secondary storage systems such as hard disk drives. LBA is a simple linear addressing scheme to specify the locations of data blocks in storage devices to find these blocks or specified pieces of data. The first block is addressed as LBA 0, the second as LBA 1 and so on. LBA is an alternative to earlier addressing schemes in which the physical details of a storage device were exposed to the operating system. LBA was first developed around SCSI hard drives and is now the dominant form of hard disk addressing.
It is important to note that LBA can also refer to a behavior analyst credential specific to the state of New York, known as Licensed Behavior Analyst (LBA) .
