what is mef

MEF stands for "Metro Ethernet Forum," which is a nonprofit international industry consortium of network, cloud, and technology providers founded in 2001. MEF has since rebranded to simply "MEF" and expanded its scope of work to include additional underlay connectivity services such as optical transport and IP, as well as overlay services such as SD-WAN. MEFs mission is to empower enterprise digital transformation through a better-together ecosystem of network, cloud, and technology providers working together to accelerate enterprise digital transformation. MEF provides a framework for digital service and offers certifications for services, technologies, and LSO APIs. MEF also develops technical standards, including MEF 3.0, which defines, delivers, and certifies assured digital services orchestrated across a global ecosystem of automated networks. MEF comprises multiple technical committees to develop, evolve, and promote the adoption of MEF standard services and interfaces.
