However, NewsClick has been accused of peddling pro-China reporting and promoting pro-China information in India. In August 2023, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) took action against NewsClick, alleging its involvement in promoting pro-China information and money laundering. The controversy unfolded in response to actions taken by the ED, which attached a flat linked to NewsClick editor-in-chief Prabir Purkayashta.
