A Virtual Payment Address (VPA) is a unique identifier that helps UPI to track a person’s account. It acts as an ID independent of your bank account number and other details. A VPA is a standard, digital bank account that is used to send and/or receive money through UPI (Unified Payments Interface) . It is generated by a user of the Unified Payments Interface (UPI) and is used to make and request payments through a UPI-enabled app. A VPA is the same as a UPI ID. The benefits of using a VPA include not having to pay additional transaction charges and the receiver not knowing your bank account details as they can only view your virtual payment address (VPA) .
