PQWL stands for Pooled Quota Waiting List tickets. It is a type of waiting list ticket that is shared by several small stations of a train route. The quota generally operates from the originating station of a train route and only one Pooled Quota is there for the entire run. The Pooled Quota is usually selected for the passengers traveling from the originating station to one or a few stations short of the terminating station, or from a midway station to the terminating station, or between two stations coming midway of the entire route. The chances of PQWL tickets getting confirmed are usually very low, as in the priority list of waiting list tickets it comes after GNWL. PQWL ticket holders are only allotted tickets once any tickets get cancelled in the pooled quota and it has a lower priority than GNWL. However, the probability of confirmation of your individual ticket may be different from what is expected. To be exactly sure about the confirmation probability of your ticket, you must check the IRCTC website or download the IRCTC app.
