RivaTuner Statistics Server (RTSS) is a program that acts as a middleman between a video game and the driver to provide precise in-game framerate information, measured in frames per second (FPS), and other hardware monitoring statistics. It was initially a companion software to RivaTuner, a freeware overclocking and hardware monitoring program developed by Alexey Nicolaychuk in 1997 for Nvidia video cards. RTSS has since evolved into a standalone program that provides framerate and frametime monitoring support to client applications. It allows users to monitor their GPU usage, temperature, fan speed, and other hardware statistics in real-time. RTSS also provides an on-screen display (OSD) that can be customized to show different statistics in different positions on the screen. Users can design their own skins for RTSS and create localizations for their native language. However, RTSS can be incompatible with some third-party OSD software and anticheat systems of some online games may restrict OSD usage and block connection to the server when playing the game. If users want to uninstall RTSS, they can do so through the Windows Control Panel or using a third-party uninstaller program.
