The solar plexus, also known as the celiac plexus, is a complex system of radiating nerves and ganglia located in the pit of the stomach in front of the aorta. It is part of the sympathetic nervous system and plays an important role in the functioning of the stomach, kidneys, liver, and adrenal glands. The solar plexus is also associated with the third chakra, the Manipura Chakra, which governs our ability to be confident, assertive, and make decisions from a place of inner wisdom. When this chakra is out of balance, we may experience feelings of insecurity, self-doubt, and a lack of direction in life. A number of different conditions can lead to solar plexus pain, ranging from physical conditions to emotional ones, including anxiety and acid reflux. The solar plexus is also referred to as the part of the abdomen including the stomach that is particularly vulnerable to the effects of a blow to the body wall in front of it. The celiac plexus, also known as the solar plexus, is a complex network of nerves located in the abdomen, near where the celiac trunk, superior mesenteric artery, and renal arteries branch from the abdominal aorta.
