As of November 2023, marijuana is legal for recreational use in 24 states, Washington D.C., and Guam. These states are Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Hawaii, Illinois, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Oregon, Rhode Island, Vermont, and Washington. In addition, medical marijuana is legal in 38 states, four out of five permanently inhabited U.S. territories, and the federal District of Columbia. However, the legality of marijuana varies by state, and some states only allow the use of CBD oil with low levels of THC. It is important to note that while some states have legalized marijuana, it is still considered an illegal drug by the US federal government.
