The Twin Towers were attacked on September 11, 2001. The first plane, American Airlines Flight 11, crashed into the North Tower at 8:46 a.m., and the second plane, United Airlines Flight 175, hit the South Tower at 9:03 a.m. Both towers collapsed within about two hours after being struck by the planes.
