when were the ravens founded

The Baltimore Ravens were founded in 1996. The team originated when Cleveland Browns owner Art Modell decided to relocate his franchise to Baltimore, Maryland. As part of the relocation agreement, the Browns' name, history, and colors remained in Cleveland for a future team, and the relocated team was named the Ravens after the famous poem by Edgar Allan Poe, a Baltimore native.
