The Washington Commanders are originally from Boston, Massachusetts, where the franchise was founded in 1932 as the Boston Braves. In 1933, the team changed its name to the Boston Redskins. Then, in 1937, the franchise relocated to Washington, D.C., and became the Washington Redskins. Due to controversy over the former name, the team retired it in 2020, played for two seasons as the Washington Football Team, and rebranded as the Washington Commanders in 2022. Today, the team is based in the Washington metropolitan area, with its home stadium in Landover, Maryland, and its headquarters and training facility in Ashburn, Virginia.
