The Indus River originates from the Tibetan Plateau near Lake Mansarovar. The Ganga River has its origin in the Gangotri Glacier in the Indian state of Uttarakhand, where it initially flows as the Bhagirathi River until it meets the Alaknanda River at Devprayag, after which it is known as the Ganga.
