The rabbit disappears down a rabbit hole, as famously depicted in Lewis Carroll's 1865 book "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland." At the beginning of the story, Alice chases the White Rabbit, who bounds into a rabbit hole. Alice then falls down the long rabbit hole, which leads her to the fantastical world of Wonderland.
