where is eastenders filmed

EastEnders is filmed at the BBC Elstree Centre in Borehamwood, Hertfordshire, which is northwest of London. The exterior set for the fictional Albert Square is located in the permanent backlot outdoors at this location. Additionally, much of the location work is filmed nearby in Watford, which is used for many exterior scenes due to its proximity and similarity in name to the fictional borough of Walford. The set has evolved over the years, with a new set being used since early 2022 after the original one became deteriorated.
