Indore is located in the western part of the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh. It lies on the Malwa Plateau at an elevation of about 553 meters (around 1,814 feet) above sea level. The city is situated on the banks of two small rivers, the Saraswati and the Khan, which meet at the center of the city. Geographically, Indore is approximately at 22°43' North latitude and 75°49'60'' East longitude. It is the largest city and a commercial capital of Madhya Pradesh in central India, and serves as a major industrial and educational hub.
