Marion County is located in the North Central region of the state of Florida, USA. It is about 75 miles northwest of Orlando, 85 miles southwest of Jacksonville, and 100 miles north of Tampa. The county seat of Marion County is Ocala. The county is known for its blend of urban and rural landscapes and covers approximately 1,663 square miles. It is bordered by Alachua County to the north, Levy County to the northwest, Citrus County to the southwest, Sumter County to the south, Lake County to the southeast, and Putnam County to the northeast. Marion County is also home to part of the Ocala National Forest and is renowned for its natural beauty and equine industry.
