Myanmar is a country in northwest Southeast Asia, located on the Indochinese peninsula. It is bordered by China to the north and northeast, Laos to the east, Thailand to the southeast, and has the Bay of Bengal and the Andaman Sea to the southwest and south. To the northwest, it shares borders with India and Bangladesh. The country lies between latitudes 9° and 29°N and longitudes 92° and 102°E. Its capital city is Naypyidaw, while its largest city is Yangon. Myanmar is the largest country by area in mainland Southeast Asia and has a diverse geography that includes coastal beaches, mountains, plateaus, and river valleys, with the Irrawaddy River being the longest and most significant river in the country.
