Spain is located in southwestern Europe, occupying most of the Iberian Peninsula. It shares the peninsula with Portugal to the west. Spain is bordered to the north by France, Andorra, and the Bay of Biscay; to the south and east by the Mediterranean Sea (except for the small British territory of Gibraltar); and to the west by the Atlantic Ocean and Portugal. Additionally, Spain has territories including the Balearic Islands in the Mediterranean, the Canary Islands off northwest Africa in the Atlantic Ocean, and two autonomous cities in North Africa, Ceuta and Melilla. Its geographical coordinates are approximately 40°N latitude and 4°W longitude.
