Charlie Kirk was shot from the roof of the Losee Center building on the campus of Utah Valley University (UVU) in Orem, Utah. The shooting occurred during an outdoor event where Kirk was speaking to an audience. Security camera footage showed the gunman arriving at the campus, proceeding to the roof of the Losee Center, and firing a single shot that hit Kirk in the neck. The distance of the shot was initially estimated at about 200 yards but was later revised to approximately 142 yards (130 meters) from the roof to where Kirk was speaking under a tent in the university's outdoor courtyard.
