Iryna Zarutska was fatally stabbed on a Charlotte light rail train in North Carolina. The stabbing occurred during her ride on the Lynx Blue Line train, shortly after she boarded at the Scaleybark station, which is a few miles from downtown Charlotte. The attack happened aboard the train itself, where the assailant, sitting behind her, suddenly pulled out a knife and stabbed her multiple times, including at least once in the neck. Zarutska was pronounced dead at the scene on the train. The suspect was arrested immediately after exiting the train at the next stop.
