“Knives Out” was filmed primarily in and around Boston, Massachusetts, using a mix of real mansions and nearby towns for different scenes.
Main mansion locations
The exterior of the Thrombey family mansion is a privately owned Gothic Revival manor located in the suburbs west of Boston, in the town of Natick, Massachusetts. The production used this estate mainly for outside views and some approach/driveway shots.
Most of the interior mansion scenes were filmed at the historic Ames Mansion in Borderland State Park, in Easton, Massachusetts. Ames Mansion, a 20‑room historic home, provided the distinctive library, hallways, and many of the richly decorated rooms seen in the film.
Other Massachusetts towns used
Several surrounding Massachusetts towns doubled for various story locations and exterior scenes. Key places include Maynard, Marlborough, Medfield, Waltham, Lincoln, Natick, Wellesley, Canton, and Boston itself, which were used for things like the car chase, streets, medical examiner’s office, and background town shots.
