The Battle of Lexington and Concord took place in Middlesex County in the Province of Massachusetts Bay, British America, specifically in the towns of Lexington, Concord, Lincoln, Menotomy (present-day Arlington), and Cambridge. The initial clashes were at Lexington Green and then Concord, Massachusetts, marking the first major military actions of the American Revolutionary War on April 19, 1775. The battles extended along what is now known as the Battle Road, connecting Lexington and Concord through Lincoln, where British troops and colonial militia fought in a day-long running battle.

The locations are preserved today within the Minute Man National Historical Park in these towns to commemorate the first conflict of the American Revolution.
