The Philippines earthquake occurred offshore near Bogo City, Cebu province, in the central Philippines. It was a magnitude 6.9 earthquake at a shallow depth of about 5 kilometers (3 miles). The epicenter was located approximately 19 kilometers (12 miles) northeast of Bogo City at coordinates 11.10°N, 124.14°E. The earthquake caused moderate to severe shaking in Bogo City and nearby municipalities in Cebu, and also affected areas in Negros Occidental province. It led to extensive damage, casualties, and numerous aftershocks in the region.
