The people who can vote for the Mayor of London must meet these criteria:
- Be registered to vote
- Be 18 or over on the election day
- Be resident at an address in Greater London
- Not be legally excluded from voting
- Be either a British citizen, an Irish citizen, a Commonwealth citizen, or a citizen of Denmark, Luxembourg, Poland, Portugal, Spain, or another EU country with continuous permission to stay since December 31, 2020
The voting system used to elect the Mayor of London is "first past the post," where the candidate with the most votes wins. Only those who fulfill these residency, citizenship, age, and registration requirements can vote for the Mayor of London.
