who created labubu

Labubu was created by Kasing Lung, a Hong Kong-born artist who later lived in the Netherlands and Belgium. He originally introduced Labubu as a character in his series called "The Monsters." Labubu, inspired by Nordic folklore and mythology, gained wider popularity through a collaboration with the Chinese toy company Pop Mart starting around 2019. Kasing Lung's creation blends East and West influences and has become a global phenomenon as a collectible plush toy line.
