The VHS (Video Home System) was invented by engineers Yuma Shiraishi and Shizuo Takano of the Japanese company JVC (Japan Victor Company). They led a team that developed the VHS format in the early 1970s, aiming to create a user-friendly, durable, and affordable video recording system for home use. The first VHS VCR was released in 1976.
