Ryan Wesley Routh is the man charged and found guilty of attempting to assassinate President Donald Trump at one of Trump's Florida golf courses in 2024. Routh, aged 58 at the time of the incident, was arrested after Secret Service agents spotted an AK-47 style rifle aimed at Trump through shrubbery. He faced federal charges including possession of a firearm as a convicted felon and possession of a firearm with an obliterated serial number. Routh has a criminal history, lived previously in Greensboro, North Carolina, and more recently in Hawaii, and has been involved in legal battles and various crimes in his past. His attempt on Trump's life was thwarted, and he has pleaded not guilty initially but was subsequently found guilty by a jury in September 2025 on all counts related to the assassination attempt.
