The Seattle Mariners are primarily owned by John W. Stanton, who is the majority owner and chairman of the team. Stanton became the majority owner in 2016 when he led the purchase of 90% of the ownership stakes at a valuation of $1.4 billion. The ownership group is known as First Avenue Entertainment. While Stanton holds a majority share, there are also other shareholders who own smaller portions of the team, including recent additions like Panos and Mary Panay who have bought into the franchise. Nintendo of America sold its majority interest in the Mariners to Stanton's group in 2016, retaining only a 10% stake.
