The exclamation "Eureka!" is attributed to the ancient Greek mathematician and inventor Archimedes. He reportedly shouted "Eureka! Eureka!" after discovering a method to determine the volume of an irregular object by observing the water displacement when he stepped into a bath. This discovery helped him solve the problem of measuring the purity of a gold crown given to him by King Hieron of Syracuse. Archimedes was so excited by this insight that he is said to have run naked through the streets shouting "Eureka!" which means "I have found it!" in Greek.
