The book of Ephesians is traditionally attributed to the Apostle Paul. He is believed to have written the letter while imprisoned in Rome around AD 60-63. This letter is one of the New Testament epistles and is often included among Paul's Prison Epistles, which also include Colossians, Philippians, and Philemon. Paul's authorship is supported by both internal evidence—the letter itself begins with a greeting identifying Paul as the author—and external historical evidence, such as its circulation and acceptance in early Christian communities. However, some modern scholars debate Pauline authorship based on differences in style, tone, and content compared to Paul's other letters. They suggest it might have been written by a follower of Paul after his death, sometime between AD 70-100. Despite this scholarly debate, the traditional view holds that Paul wrote Ephesians to encourage and instruct the Christian community at Ephesus or in the surrounding region.
