why are there so many fruit flies in my house

There are many fruit flies in the house because they are attracted to fermenting, rotting, or overripe fruits and vegetables, as well as any moist, food-rich environment. Fruit flies may come into the home through eggs already laid on fruits bought from stores, or they can enter through tiny cracks in walls or doors. They are drawn by the smell of fermentation and feed on yeast growing on liquefying food.
