Excessive sneezing can be caused by a variety of factors, most commonly allergies, viral infections like colds or the flu, irritants in the air such as dust or strong odors, sinus infections, and sudden changes in temperature. Other triggers include the photic sneeze reflex (sneezing due to bright light), spicy foods, nasal polyps, and even non-allergic rhinitis, which may be caused by sensitivities to certain environmental factors. Additionally, sometimes sneezing is triggered by less common reasons such as a full stomach, cold breeze, sexual arousal, or neurological factors involving the trigeminal nerve in the nose.
If sneezing is persistent and severe, it may indicate underlying allergies, infections, or structural issues in the nose, which might require medical evaluation.
