why does my hair get oily so fast

Hair gets oily quickly mainly due to the overproduction of sebum by the scalp's sebaceous glands. Sebum is a natural oil that keeps the scalp and hair healthy, but excess production makes hair look greasy fast. Several factors contribute to this, including hair type (straight and fine hair tend to get oily faster because sebum spreads easily along the hair shaft), hormonal fluctuations, daily habits like overwashing or not washing enough, use of the wrong hair products, touching or brushing hair too much, environmental factors like heat and humidity, and even diet and stress. Overwashing can strip the scalp of natural oils, which paradoxically triggers more oil production as the scalp tries to compensate. Conversely, under-washing can lead to buildup of oil and products, also causing greasiness. Hormones and genetics influence how much oil the scalp produces, and certain health and skin conditions can increase oiliness as well.
