A rainbow traditionally has seven colors. These colors are red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet, commonly remembered by the mnemonic "ROYGBIV" or "VIBGYOR." This seven-color division was originally proposed by Isaac Newton, although the exact number of colors is somewhat arbitrary due to the continuous spectrum of light and human perception. Some modern interpretations simplify this to six colors by omitting indigo. Scientifically, a rainbow is a continuous spectrum of colors without distinct boundaries between them.
