The RSV vaccine for adults is currently recommended as a single dose, not an annual vaccine. Adults aged 75 and older should receive one dose, as well as adults aged 50–74 who are at increased risk of severe RSV disease. Once an eligible adult has received their single dose, they do not need additional doses at this time. The best time to get vaccinated is in late summer or early fall before the RSV season starts, but the vaccine can be given at any time during the year. Ongoing studies are evaluating if and when additional doses might be necessary in the future.
