To know your PAN (Permanent Account Number) card number, you can use the following methods:
1. Check Your Physical PAN Card
If you have your physical PAN card, simply look for the 10-character alphanumeric code printed on the front side of the card. This is your PAN number
2. Through the Income Tax Department's e-Filing Website
- Visit the official Income Tax Department e-filing website.
- If you have an account, log in using your credentials. If not, register yourself by providing your details and activating your account via email.
- After logging in, go to ‘Profile Settings’ and then ‘My Account’.
- Your PAN details, including your PAN number, name, date of birth, and status, will be displayed
3. Using Aadhaar Number on Income Tax Website
- Go to the Income Tax Department's e-filing site.
- Under ‘Quick Links’, select ‘Instant e-PAN’.
- Click on ‘Check Status/Download PAN’ and enter your Aadhaar number.
- Enter the OTP sent to your registered mobile number.
- Your PAN card status and details will be shown
4. Via Mobile Applications
- Download the official PAN card mobile app from Play Store or App Store.
- Open the app and select ‘Know your PAN details’.
- Enter your registered mobile number and other required details.
- Enter the OTP received on your phone to access your PAN details
5. By Email or Toll-Free Helpline
- You can send an email to NSDL or UTIITSL requesting your PAN number by providing your full name, date of birth, and registered phone number.
- Alternatively, call the Income Tax helpline at 1800-180-1961 or NSDL helpline at 1800-222-990 and follow the IVR instructions to retrieve your PAN number
Important Notes
- The ‘Know Your PAN’ service by name and date of birth alone has been discontinued on the Income Tax website due to security concerns.
- You need to have some registered details like mobile number or Aadhaar linked to your PAN for online retrieval
By following these steps, you can easily find out your PAN number online or through other official means.
