A managed router service allows an organization to outsource the management of a router to a managed service provider.
A managed router provides secure internet access through a firewall and acts as a gateway between the local network and the public internet. It offers advanced features such as network monitoring, traffic shaping, and Quality of Service (QoS) . Managed routers can also create a private connection between sites using IPsec and other secure protocols, and virtual router redundancy protocol is available.
The main advantage of a managed router is that it frees up an organizations IT staff to focus on other tasks, as the managed service provider handles the management of the router. Additionally, a managed router can provide improved network performance and security. However, the main disadvantage is that it can be more expensive than managing the router in-house.
