where are the great lakes

The Great Lakes are a group of five large interconnected freshwater lakes located in east-central North America. They form a natural border between the United States and Canada. The five lakes are Lake Superior, Lake Michigan, Lake Huron, Lake Erie, and Lake Ontario. These lakes touch the U.S. states of Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and New York, as well as the Canadian province of Ontario. Only Lake Michigan is entirely within the United States. The Great Lakes region includes parts of both the U.S. and Canada and is one of the largest freshwater systems in the world by surface area.
