The football club plays its home games at Rams Park, also known as Türk Telekom Stadium, situated in the Seyrantepe area of the Sarıyer district in Istanbul. The name Galatasaray itself comes from the Galatasaray quarter in Karaköy, Beyoğlu district, Istanbul, which is near the northern shore of the Golden Horn. The historic roots of the name relate to "Galata Palace" and the prestigious Galatasaray High School established in that area since 1481.
