Lorde is from New Zealand. She was born Ella Marija Lani Yelich-O'Connor on November 7, 1996, in the Auckland suburb of Takapuna and was raised in neighboring Devonport, Auckland, New Zealand. Her heritage includes Irish and Croatian descent. She grew up in New Zealand and began her career there before becoming internationally famous.
