Most of the roadway and desert scenes were shot in and around the communities of Canyon Country, Agua Dulce, Acton, and the greater Santa Clarita Valley, north of Los Angeles. Key stretches of road used included Sierra Highway, Soledad Canyon Road, Agua Dulce Canyon Road, and parts of Route 14 in the Angeles National Forest.
Specific notable locations
Several identifiable spots include the Le Chene restaurant location on Sierra Highway in Agua Dulce (used as “Chuck’s Café”) and various gas station and bus scenes filmed along Soledad Canyon Road and Crown Valley Road near Acton. Opening and closing moments also tie into the Los Angeles area itself, including Toluca Lake and downtown Los Angeles streets before the character drives out toward the desert roads.
