The Chargers were originally established in Los Angeles in 1960 and played their inaugural season at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. After that single season, the team moved to San Diego in 1961 due to the strong presence and popularity of the Los Angeles Rams in the city. In San Diego, the Chargers first played at Balboa Stadium from 1961 to 1966. Then, in 1967, they moved to the newly built San Diego Stadium (later renamed Jack Murphy Stadium and then Qualcomm Stadium), where they stayed until their relocation back to Los Angeles in 2017. So, before San Diego, the Chargers were based in Los Angeles for one year in 1960.
