The repayment plan you will be placed on automatically unless you change it is the Standard Repayment Plan for federal student loans. If you do not select a different plan within 45 days of leaving school or graduating, your lender will enroll you in this plan. The Standard Repayment Plan requires fixed monthly payments over a set term, traditionally 10 years, but starting July 1, 2026, the repayment term will vary from 10 to 25 years based on your loan balance. You can change this plan by contacting your loan servicer if you prefer a different repayment option.
