Uber was created by Travis Kalanick and Garrett Camp. The idea originated in 2008 when they found it difficult to find a taxi while attending a conference in Paris. They founded the company as UberCab in San Francisco in 2009, with Camp focusing on the mobile app concept and Kalanick joining as a co-founder. The company was later renamed Uber.
