He then worked on the song at Chips Moman's studio, and with the help of Johnny Christopher and Mark James, they completed it. The song was originally recorded by Brenda Lee in 1971 but was first released by Gwen McCrae in March 1972. Elvis Presley recorded a popular version in late 1972.
