Peter Pan was written by Sir James Matthew Barrie, commonly known as J.M. Barrie. He was a Scottish novelist and playwright best remembered as the creator of Peter Pan, or The Boy Who Wouldn't Grow Up. The character first appeared in his 1902 novel The Little White Bird and then in the 1904 play Peter Pan, or The Boy Who Wouldn't Grow Up, which was later expanded into the novel Peter and Wendy in 1911. Barrie drew inspiration for Peter Pan from his friendship with the Llewelyn Davies boys and his own family experiences. He gave the rights to the Peter Pan works to Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children in London.
